About the position The UVA Earn While You Learn Trainee Program provides structured coursework and paid on-the-job-training as a full-time, benefitted employee. EMTs are responsible for performing emergency medical treatment communication and transport to the Medical Center. The EMT-Basic is an entry-level basic life support professional who is capable of functioning independently at the basic life support level but is still focused on gaining knowledge and experience.

\$16.00/hour + benefits. You will be paid a total of 40 hours /week. All course and certification fees will be paid for by UVA Health in return for 1 year FULL-TIME commitment as an employee at UVA Health once course is completed.

Responsibilities • Assesses and treats ill and injured patients in accordance with local and University Protocols. • Maintains safety as a primary role through out all aspects of care and transportation. • Identifies potential areas for improved care.

Interfaces effectively with peers and customers and assumes responsibility for professional development of self and others per department policy. • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned. Requirements • Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent.
