Network Engineer 4 – Washington, DC (Security Clearance) Overview M.C. Dean is a leading provider of cyber‑physical solutions for mission‑critical facilities. Responsibilities Technical Responsibilities • Design, install, configure, and maintain network services and equipment. • Simulate expected system performance, provide feedback, and collaborate with field engineers. • Identify and resolve network security issues; develop security solutions for network infrastructure.

• Draft and review design documents, specifications, and technical plans (CAD, panels, wiring). • Perform QA/QC, technical reviews, and author test plans and procedures. • Lead commissioning efforts and produce test reports.

Service & Maintenance • Conduct preventive maintenance: software, firmware, and security updates. • Generate maintenance plans and role‑back routes. • Execute hardware and software upgrades on existing systems.

• Serve as backup for team members during paid time off. System Analysis and Reporting • Document procedures and troubleshoot network operations. • Analyze results against benchmarks and provide recommendations.
• Collaborate with project managers to meet network task expectations and deadlines. • Research emerging technologies and recommend improvements. Managerial Responsibilities • Prepare cost estimates and supporting documentation for projects.
• Assist with bids, proposals, and change‑order pricing. • Develop and adapt engineering documentation and formal processes. • Coordinate with other disciplines on work interfaces.

Role‑Specific Responsibilities • Maintain inventory of networking equipment and reconcile with the Division’s system. • Document all switching, routing, and cabling details. • Provide day‑to‑day support for switched networks, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.

• Recommend and implement process improvements, quality assurance plans, and disaster‑recovery procedures. • Track and report identified information‑system vulnerabilities. • Manage firewall security appliances.
• Lead projects as an engineering or project manager to develop secure, resilient systems. • Prepare conceptual designs, schedules, and cost estimates for new or modified systems. • Conduct design reviews.

Qualifications • Clearance: Must hold or be eligible for ACTIVE TS/SCI clearance. • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, IT, or related discipline. • Experience: 7+ years of progressive experience in network engineering and design.

• Technical skills: • Knowledge of ITIL concepts. • Moderate understanding of security issues related to network solutions. • Proficiency with network concepts, technologies, and tools.
• Project management, system architecture, and analytical/problem‑solving skills. • Experience reading schematics, plans, and calibration tools. • Hands‑on use of tools such as spectrum analyzer, cable tester, alignment tool.
• Familiarity with platforms: Cisco, Juniper, TI, Palo Alto, Allen‑Bradley, Netgear, etc. • Network software: Visio, Wireshark, Putty, CLI. • Certifications (required or preferred): CCNP, CCNA, CompTIA Network+, Security+, ITIL 4 Foundation, Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate, Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, Microsoft 365 Certified: Fundamentals, VMware Certified Technical Associate, CompTIA A+, Cisco Certified Network Professional, Certified Cloud Security Professional, and related certifications.
