Nursing Assistant Job Description Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Nursing Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide essential support to patients, assisting with daily living activities and ensuring their comfort and well-being. This role requires a strong commitment to patient care, effective communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

We are seeking day time and overnight caregivers to work every other weekend with a rotating schedule of three to four nights per week, 12 hours per shift. This position is open at our Arlington, McLean, and Falls Church locations.

Responsibilities • Assist patients with daily activities including bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding. • Monitor and record vital signs, reporting any changes to nursing staff. • Provide basic care for patients with diverse needs including those with Alzheimer’s, dementia, or developmental disabilities.

Support mobility by assisting with transfers using equipment such as Hoyer lifts. • Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients by adhering to infection control protocols. • Document patient care accurately in electronic medical records (EMR) systems while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans. • Assist in medication administration under the supervision of licensed nursing staff. • Engage with patients in meaningful ways to promote emotional well-being and comfort.

Requirements • Certification as a Virginia Nursing Assistant or home health/PCA certification in a healthcare setting. • Experience in critical care, long-term care, assisted living, or hospice care is preferred. • Familiarity with medical terminology and documentation practices.

Knowledge of basic life support (BLS) techniques and vital sign monitoring. • Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner is advantageous. • Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with patients and families.
