Patient Care Associate

Key Responsibilities Patient Care & Support • Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, grooming, feeding, toileting, and mobility. • Measure and record vital signs including temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation. • Support patient mobility by helping with ambulation, turning, repositioning, and transferring using safe techniques.

• Respond to patient call lights promptly and ensure patient needs are met in a timely manner. • Monitor and report changes in patient condition or behavior to the RN or provider. Clinical Assistance • Assist nurses with basic clinical tasks such as specimen collection, blood glucose checks, intake/output documentation, and simple wound care support.
• Set up equipment and supplies for procedures as directed. • Maintain patient rooms and care areas in clean, safe, and organized condition. Safety & Compliance • Follow infection control standards, including hand hygiene and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Ensure patient safety through fall-prevention measures and proper use of restraints per policy. • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Communication & Teamwork • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
• Provide emotional support and reassurance to patients and families during care. • Collaborate with nurses and other staff to ensure coordinated patient care. Qualifications • High school diploma or equivalent (required).
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Patient Care Technician (PCT) certification (preferred depending on facility). • BLS/CPR certification (required in most hospitals). • Experience in acute care or long-term care settings (preferred but not always required).
