Marine Electrician (Entry Level) - Newport News, VA

**Overview:** Join Serco's dynamic team as a Marine Electrician (Entry Level) in Newport News, VA! As a Marine Electrician, you will play a critical role in supporting the U.S. Navy with equipment, and C5ISR system installations.

If you have a passion for manual projects and want to make a difference, this is an excellent opportunity for you! **Responsibilities:** • Install and repair wiring, fixtures, and equipment for all electrical services aboard ship and in shipyard facilities • Follow blueprints and wiring diagrams • Install conduit to bulkheads with brackets and screws, using hand tools, and threads wires • Strips insulation from wire ends and solders ends to terminals, using stripping pliers and soldering iron • Connect power-supply circuits to radio, radar, sonar, fire control, and other electronic equipment • Test electrical characteristics, for example, voltage, resistance, and phase angle, in circuits, using voltmeters, ohmmeters, and phase rotation indicators • Troubleshoot electrical equipment and circuits using appropriate test equipment to detect and effect required maintenance, repairs, or replacement requirements • Perform maintenance and repair of generators, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, electrical motors, distribution panels, alarm and lighting circuits • Conduct insulation resistance measurements of electrical cables to determine condition and effects repairs or replacements as required • Maintain adequate inventories of electrical spare parts and requisitions replacements as required • *Qualifications:** • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance • High School Diploma • 6+ months experience in wire/cable pulling or electrical components • Ability to obtain and gain access to shipyards (NAVSTA & DBIDS), undergo a background investigation, and pass a drug screening • Ability to obtain an OSHA certification • Ability to work in high heat spaces, climb shipyard dry dock stairs/ladders, work in kneeling position for layout of cable runs under false decking • Attention to safety • Ability to get respirator qualified and wear proper PPE throughout their work shift • Willingness to travel up to 10% to various work sites around the area • *Benefits:** • Competitive pay and performance-based incentives • Comprehensive health coverage and health savings accounts • Retirement plans, life and disability insurance, and time-off programs that support work-life balance • Medical, dental, and vision insurance • Robust vacation and sick leave benefits, and flexible work arrangements where permitted by role or contract • 401(k) plan that includes employer matching funds • Tuition reimbursement program • Life insurance and disability coverage • Optional coverages that can be purchased, including pet insurance, home and auto insurance, additional life and accident insurance, critical illness insurance, group legal, ID theft protection • Birth, adoption, parental leave benefits • Employee Assistance Plan
