About the Role: The Medical Receptionist 1 serves as the first point of contact for patients and visitors within a healthcare setting, playing a critical role in ensuring a welcoming and efficient experience. This position is responsible for managing patient check-ins, scheduling appointments, and maintaining accurate patient records, which directly supports the smooth operation of medical services. We are excited to announce that we are looking for a Full Time, Medical Receptionist 1 at Jersey Shore Gastroenterology in Egg Harbor Township, NJ.

Minimum Qualifications: • High school diploma or equivalent. • Previous experience in a customer service or administrative role, preferably in a healthcare environment. • Basic proficiency with computer systems and electronic health record (EHR) software.

• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain patient confidentiality. Preferred Qualifications: • Certification as a Medical Receptionist or Medical Administrative Assistant.
• Experience with specific EHR platforms such as Epic, Cerner, or Meditech. • Familiarity with medical terminology and healthcare billing processes. • Bilingual abilities, particularly in Spanish or other commonly spoken languages in the community.
• Training in customer service or patient relations within a healthcare setting. Responsibilities: • Greet and welcome patients and visitors promptly and courteously upon arrival. • Manage patient appointment scheduling, cancellations, and rescheduling using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
• Verify patient information, update records, and ensure accuracy of demographic and insurance data. • Answer incoming phone calls, respond to inquiries, and direct calls to appropriate medical or administrative personnel. • Collect and process patient co-payments and other payments as required.
• Maintain confidentiality and security of patient information in accordance with HIPAA and organizational policies. • Coordinate with clinical staff to prepare patients for appointments and communicate any delays or changes. • Perform general administrative duties such as filing, faxing, and managing correspondence.
