Be responsible for defining the strategic vision, overseeing the development, and managing the growth of an organization's autonomous AI systems and platforms. This position requires a combination of strategic thinking, technical expertise in AI/ML, and strong leadership to align the platform with business goals, build and manage teams, and drive innovation. Provide technical leadership for the design, development, testing and deployment of agentic workflows across Capital One Develop and execute the strategic vision and roadmap for the agentic AI platform, ensuring it aligns with organizational priorities.

Guide technical teams, set best practices for AI orchestration, MLOps, and application development, and ensure platform scalability and reliability. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree At least 7 years of experience in data engineering (e.g.

Hadoop, AWS, Snowflake) At least 3 years of experience in data architecture At least 2 years of experience building applications in AWS At least 5 years of experience of Python, SQL or Scala At least 3 years of experience developing AI and ML algorithms or technologies Preferred Qualifications: Masters’ Degree 5+ years of experience in Data Governance, Data Governance Platforms, Data Standardization, and Data Modeling Experience developing AI and ML algorithms or technologies (e.g. LLM Inference, Similarity Search and VectorDBs, Guardrails, Memory) using Python, C++, C#, Java, or Golang 3+ years of experience deploying scalable and responsible AI solutions on cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, or equivalent private cloud) 3+ years of experience implementing big data processing solutions on AWS or any Hadoop environments Capital One will consider sponsoring a new qualified applicant for employment authorization for this position The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location.

Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked. McLean, VA: $269,100 - $307,200 for Distinguished Data Engineer San Francisco, CA: $293,600 - $335,100 for Distinguished Data Engineer Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
