Diesel Mechanic Apprentice

Job Title: Diesel Mechanic Apprentice Job Description We are seeking a Diesel Mechanic Apprentice to join a team revamping and fully staffing a trucking diesel shop for a well-established company. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about learning and growing within the diesel mechanic field. Responsibilities • Assist lead mechanics on the designated shift with various tasks.

• Perform general preventative maintenance such as changing tires, lights, oil, and lube. • Engage in general wrench turning and shop duties. • Clean and wash vehicles and assist with vehicle maintenance.
• Provide tools and labor support to mechanics. • Once transitioned to a Diesel Mechanic, spend 80% of time working on Ford, Mack, and International trucks, and 20% on other light to heavy equipment. • Diagnose malfunctions by observing and listening to trucks or equipment.
• Install new ignition systems, align wheels, change or recharge batteries, and replace parts. • Replace gas or diesel engines and perform engine overhauls. • Examine and adjust safety devices on trucks and equipment.
• Fabricate special attachments and systems according to schematic drawings. • Perform collision repair, sanding, prepping, and painting. • Complete standard maintenance and ensure state inspection requirements are met.
• Perform diagnostics using computers and other duties as assigned. Essential Skills • 1-3 years of experience in a shop or automotive environment with a desire to learn diesel mechanics. • Experience with diesel troubleshooting, repair, hydraulics, electrical, and automotive tech.
• Basic computer skills and ability to draw and interpret bar graphs. • Mathematical skills to compute rates, ratios, and percentages. • Ability to meet physical requirements relevant to the job.
• Customer service and teamwork skills. • Ability to use PPE as needed. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Middletown, PA.

Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $23.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may be subject to specific elections, plan, or program terms.
