Pool & Spa Technician Apprentice Job Description Position Title: Pool & Spa Technician Apprentice Reports To: Lead Pool & Spa Technician Position Overview The Pool & Spa Technician Apprentice works alongside an experienced technician to service, maintain, and repair pools and spas for OBX Certified Pool & Spa Services LLC. This hands-on apprenticeship offers structured on-the-job training, with opportunities to learn technical skills, safety protocols, and customer service best practices while gaining real-world experience in the pool and spa industry. Key Responsibilities • Assist with the evaluation and maintenance of pool and spa equipment and fixtures to ensure proper operation and identify needs for repair or replacement.

• Help determine structural and surface conditions of pools and spas, reporting any failures or issues to the lead technician. • Participate in servicing, troubleshooting, and repairing pool and spa operating systems, including pumps, filters, heaters, and electrical components. • Learn and practice proper chemical analysis and dosing to maintain water quality and comply with safety and regulatory standards.
• Support cleaning and maintenance tasks, such as skimming debris, vacuuming, emptying filters, and maintaining chemical balances. • Document service visits, work performed, and parts used, and assist with inventory management of tools and supplies. • Communicate professionally with customers, addressing questions and providing updates under supervision.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and company procedures, including the safe handling of chemicals and equipment. • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including vehicles and equipment. • Perform additional duties as assigned by the lead technician.

Qualifications & Requirements • High school diploma or equivalent preferred. • Willingness to learn technical skills and work outdoors in various weather conditions. • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks such as bending, stooping, and standing for extended periods.

• Strong attention to detail, reliability, and a positive attitude. • Good communication and teamwork skills. • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred.
• Previous experience in maintenance, construction, or customer service is a plus but not required. Training & Advancement • Receive on-the-job training and mentorship from experienced technicians. • Opportunity to participate in additional online or classroom-style instruction as part of the apprenticeship program.
• Progression to higher-level technician roles possible upon successful completion of the apprenticeship and demonstration of required competencies. Work Environment & Schedule • Primarily field-based, working at client locations throughout the service area. • May require early morning starts, occasional overtime, and work during peak pool season.
• Must be able to work in outdoor environments and handle exposure to pool chemicals and cleaning agents. Compensation • Competitive hourly wage, with potential for pay increases as skills and responsibilities grow. • Ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
