Apprentice/Entry Level Diesel Service Technician The Apprentice / Entry-Level Diesel Service Technician position is designed to develop future diesel technicians by providing hands-on training within the service department. This role supports experienced technicians while learning fundamental service procedures, shop operations, and diagnostic processes. The apprentice will perform limited and supervised tasks while gaining exposure to diesel truck maintenance, inspections, and basic repair procedures.

The objective of this position is to evaluate and develop the individual’s potential to grow into a full Diesel Service Technician role through hands-on experience, training, and mentorship. • *Part-time scheduling may be considered based on operational needs and circumstances. Core Focus • Develop future diesel technicians through hands-on training • Support service technicians with shop tasks and preventative maintenance • Learn diesel engine systems, diagnostics, and repair procedures • Build technical knowledge of service operations and safety procedures • Assist with maintaining shop efficiency and productivity Key Responsibilities • Assist experienced technicians with basic service and maintenance tasks • Perform preventative maintenance (PM) services such as fluid checks, filter replacements, and inspections • Assist with shop clean-up and organization to maintain a safe work environment • Support technicians with parts handling, tool setup, and repair preparation • Observe and assist with diagnostic procedures and repair processes • Learn how to perform vehicle inspections and document findings • Assist with pulling diagnostic reports from truck systems when directed • Learn proper procedures for documenting repairs and communicating service needs • Follow all shop safety procedures and company policies • Participate in training opportunities and skill development programs Qualifications • High school diploma or equivalent preferred • Interest in pursuing a career as a Diesel Service Technician • Basic mechanical aptitude or prior mechanical experience preferred • Vocational or technical school experience in diesel technology is a plus • Ability to learn quickly and follow instructions from senior technicians • Strong work ethic and willingness to develop new skills • Ability to lift and handle tools, parts, and materials as required • Valid driver's license preferred Service Standards and Expectations • Demonstrate a strong willingness to learn and develop technical skills • Maintain a positive attitude and strong work ethic • Follow all safety procedures and shop policies • Work cooperatively with technicians, service advisors, and management • Maintain a clean and organized work environment • Show reliability and accountability in daily responsibilities Success in This Role Looks Like • Demonstrated growth in mechanical and diagnostic knowledge • Ability to complete preventative maintenance tasks independently over time • Strong teamwork and support of the service department • Consistent reliability and willingness to learn • Development toward promotion into a Diesel Service Technician position Work Environment • Service shop or maintenance facility • Exposure to noise, grease, oils, fumes, and moving equipment • Frequent interaction with technicians, service advisors, and supervisors Physical & Other Requirements • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and lift up to 50 lbs.
