About the Team In the Workday Adaptive Planning team, we help organizations plan, model, and execute their most critical business decisions.

Our Workforce Planning products sit at the intersection of Finance and HR, enabling customers to align headcount, skills, cost, and organizational structure with their strategic objectives. Built on a powerful, in-memory planning platform, our solutions support dynamic, company‑wide planning, rich what‑if modeling, and analytics at scale to help customers navigate ongoing workforce transformation. The Workforce Planning product area focuses on strategic workforce planning and task intelligence: enabling customers to connect long‑term business strategy to workforce demand and supply, understand the work itself (tasks, roles, and skills), and optimize how that work gets done across people, teams, and time.

Capabilities include headcount and cost planning, skills and role-based planning, task- and activity-level modeling, scenario modeling for organizational change, integration with HCM/HRIS and financial systems, and intuitive experiences for HR, finance, and business leaders to collaborate on workforce decisions. More importantly, we are adding AI/ML product capabilities to new and existing Workforce Planning products. This includes building agents and skills that interpret user inputs and constraints, explain trade-offs, summarize decision contexts, and generate recommended organizational scenarios.

About the Role A successful candidate will lead multiple priorities with bold deadlines, be passionate about building high-quality enterprise applications, and be innovative in their approaches to technical delivery, process and operations, and relationship-building. Responsibilities: Partner and collaborate with multi-functional stakeholders to prioritize, plan and lead the delivery of critical project milestones Drive the activities of application development scrum teams including oversight of quality, automation and product support Co-ordinate the analysis, design, programming, testing, debugging with the team and take ownership of project execution Engage with Engineering, Product, Research/UX, Agility, Doc-writing, and Customer Support colleagues - and with Workday customers - to identify, discuss, debate and ultimately solve customer issues in increasingly innovative ways Understand and promote best practices for software development and promote industry-standard methodologies Coach and mentor team members to help them to be at their best, assisting with career growth and personal development Personify and promote the Workday values of Employees, Customer Service, Innovation, Integrity, Fun, and Profitability Expectations: 3+ years experience managing teams working with programming languages and technologies including Java, Python, C#, C++, etc .

Solid understanding of Decision Making processes in managing engineering teams and projects. Good understanding of Engineering Leadership principles in leading and guiding technical teams. Developing Influencing Skills to drive technical decisions and team alignment.

Understanding of Mentorship principles and experience in guiding and developing team members. Strong understanding of People Management principles for leading a software development team and fostering a positive environment. Solid understanding of Software Development principles relevant to managing technical teams and projects.

Good skills in delivering Technical Presentations to technical and non-technical audiences. Good understanding of Technical Project Management principles and experience in managing technical projects. Good Understanding of Requirements and the ability to ensure team understanding and execution.

About You Basic Qualifications: 3+ years of experience building and directly managing impactful engineering teams 8+ years of experience developing applications using Cloud-based technologies 8+ years of experience with design and development using an object-oriented language such as Java, Python, C#, C++, etc. Bachelor's degree in a computer related field or equivalent work experience Other Qualifications: You see software development as a team sport and thrive in a highly collaborative and agile culture where you’re always guiding and learning You have a strong focus on delivering high-quality software products, continuous innovation, and you value test automation and performance engineering You are proactive and able to deliver on initiatives that you start You demonstrate the interpersonal skills needed to positively influence important issues or decisions in a multi-functional environment You have the ability to communicate technical complexity in simple terms to both technical and nontechnical audiences Experience in ERP application development is a plus Experience in modern UI technologies and languages such as React and Typescript is a plus Experience supporting team members career growth and development You put people first and ensure a psychologically safe environment for team members Our Approach to Flexible Work With Flex Work, we’re combining the best of both worlds: in-person time and remote.
