Head of EPD Systems and AI Transformation

We are looking for a systems leader to reinvent how Vanta’s Engineering, Product, and Design organization operates as we scale. This is not a traditional EPD Operations role. You’ll create an AI-native operating system for how we plan, execute, and learn, and lead a team of operations managers and builders to deliver it.

The goal is simple: remove the repetitive manual work that slows teams down and replace it with automation and agents that improve over time. As Head of EPD Systems & AI Transformation, you will treat product development itself as a product. You will design the systems, agents, and operating mechanisms that eliminate manual status reporting, copy and paste coordination, create broad alignment on key initiatives, and make customer and internal feedback loops faster, tighter, and measurable.

This role requires technical, management, execution, and analytical skills, as well as a passion and understanding of agentic workflows. Previous experience could be in Product Management, Engineering Management, or Product Operations. You should be able to design end-to-end systems, partner closely with engineering, product, design, data, and GTM teams, and run rigorous evaluation loops so our agents and automation are always improving.

What you’ll do as a Head of EPD Systems & AI Transformation at Vanta: - Lead Strategic Transformation & Team Development - Define, lead, and deliver a multi-quarter roadmap to transform Engineering, Product, and Design through automation and AI workflows - Lead and grow a small team to deliver EPD systems, programs, and our agentic transformation - Serve as a strategic partner to the CPO and EPD Leadership Team by surfacing systemic risks and opportunities and driving concrete interventions - Partner with DevEx and other teams to integrate and align efforts without duplicating their mandates - Build AI-Native EPD Operating System - Design an end-to-end information flow across our core systems (roadmap, customer feedback systems, research artifacts, Slack) so teams spend less time reconciling data and more time building - Automate status reporting across EPD by generating team and executive rollups and related systems, focused on what changed, what is at risk, and what decisions are needed - Build agents that help teams get answers, produce drafts, and trigger workflow actions in the moment - Build system agents that run continuously in the background to reconcile data, detect changes, maintain hygiene, and reduce drift across tools - Establish evaluation and continuous improvement practices: define success metrics, build test harnesses, run phased rollouts, measure adoption and quality, and iterate quickly - Transform Customer & GTM Feedback Loops - Automate customer and GTM feedback loops by ingesting and synthesizing feedback at scale, clustering themes, mapping signal to roadmap areas when possible, and producing decision-ready evidence - Partner closely with GTM teams to ensure feedback is structured, traceable, and actionable, and to complete the loop by verifying outcomes with customers and communicating what has changed - Create practical guardrails for AI-enabled workflows, including privacy, data handling, reliability, auditability, and human-in-the-loop expectations, in partnership with Security and IT How to be successful in this role: - Leadership & Team Development - 5 years of experience leading and growing a team - Strong product instincts applied internally: you treat teams as users, prioritize based on pain and leverage, and iterate toward adoption - you treat product development itself as a product - Clear communicator who can simplify complex systems and align senior stakeholders - AI & Automation Expertise - Passion and past experience delivering agents and automation in practice, including reliability, drift, evaluation, and rollout strategies that build trust - Demonstrated ability to run iterative improvement loops: define metrics, test changes, measure impact, and keep raising the bar - Systems Thinking & Technical Depth - Experience designing and improving systems to build products, as a technical product manager, engineering leader, or systems leader who has owned tooling, process, and data together - Strong systems thinking and an ability to model how work actually flows across functions, find root causes, and redesign mechanisms rather than patch symptoms - Ability to partner with engineering and data teams without needing to be the primary coder - Cross-Functional Partnership & Execution - Ability to partner effectively across EPD and GTM organizations and align incentives around closed-loop feedback - Data-oriented mindset with strong instincts for instrumentation and decision-quality metrics, not just output metrics - Comfort operating in ambiguity with a bias toward shipping and learning quickly What you can expect as a Vanta’n: - Industry-competitive salary and equity - Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, with 100% of employee-only benefit premiums covered for most medical plans - 16 weeks paid Parental Leave for all new parents - Health & wellness stipend - Remote workspace, internet, and cellphone stipend - Commuter benefits for team members who report to the SF and NYC office - Family planning benefits - Matching 401(k) contribution with immediate vesting - Flexible PTO policy, plus 80 hours of Sick Time - 11 company-paid holidays - Virtual team building activities, lunch and learns, and other company-wide events! - Offices in SF, NYC, London, Dublin, Tel Aviv, and Sydney To provide greater transparency to candidates, we share base pay ranges for all US-based job postings regardless of state.
