Dental Sterilization Technician - Entry Level

Job Description: Dental Office Sterilization Technician Position: Dental Office Sterilization Technician Summary: As a Dental Office Sterilization Technician, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness, organization, and safety of our dental office. Your primary responsibilities will involve preparing treatment rooms, ensuring instruments are properly cleaned and sterilized, organizing lab cases, and assisting in escorting patients to and from operatories. Your attention to detail and adherence to infection control protocols will be critical in creating a positive and comfortable environment for both our patients and dental team.

Main Responsibilities: Room Turnover: Prepare treatment rooms before and after each patient visit. Remove and dispose of used barriers, materials, and waste appropriately. Clean and disinfect surfaces, dental chairs, and equipment following established protocols.

Restock supplies and ensure each room is fully equipped for the next patient. Instrument Cleaning and Sterilization: Sort, disassemble, and clean dental instruments, handpieces, and equipment. Utilize appropriate cleaning agents and methods to ensure proper disinfection.

Operate and maintain autoclaves and other sterilization equipment. Monitor sterilization logs and maintain records to ensure compliance with infection control standards. Organizing Lab Cases: Receive and organize incoming lab cases for various dental procedures.

Communicate with the dental team to ensure the proper tracking of lab cases. Maintain a well-organized and clean lab area. Assisting Patients: Escort patients to and from the treatment areas, ensuring their comfort and safety.

Provide friendly and courteous assistance to patients as needed. Assist with seating and preparing patients for dental procedures when necessary. Infection Control and Safety: Adhere strictly to infection control protocols and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines.

Maintain a clean and sterile working environment at all times. Regularly monitor and report any issues related to infection control or safety to the appropriate personnel. Team Collaboration: Collaborate with the dental team to ensure smooth patient flow and efficient operations.

Communicate any issues or concerns related to sterilization processes or patient care promptly. Assist other team members as needed to enhance the overall patient experience. Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent.

Previous experience as a Sterilization Technician or Dental Assistant is preferred but not mandatory. Strong attention to detail and the ability to work with precision. Good communication skills and a friendly, approachable demeanor.

Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment. Physical ability to lift and move heavy equipment and supplies. Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and fast-paced dental office environments.
