Diesel Mechanic Apprentice

Superior Paving is looking for motivated individuals who want to learn how to maintain and repair heavy equipment used in road construction. If you enjoy working with your hands, solving problems, and being part of a team, this is a great place to start. As an Apprentice, you’ll work side-by-side with experienced technicians who will teach you how to: • Inspect and maintain construction equipment and vehicles • Perform basic repairs and preventative maintenance • Use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment • Troubleshoot mechanical issues • Work safely around heavy equipment and active job sites • Understand how a professional shop operates day-to-day This is a structured, hands-on training role — no prior mechanic experience required.

Key Responsibilities • Assist technicians with daily maintenance and repair tasks • Learn to perform inspections and basic mechanical work • Keep the shop clean, organized, and safe • Support tool organization, parts inventory, and shop upkeep • Follow safety procedures and company guidelines • Show steady progress as you complete training milestones • Help with other shop tasks as needed What We're Looking For You’ll be a great fit if you: • Are 18+ with a valid driver’s license • Enjoy hands-on work and learning new skills • Have an interest in mechanics, equipment, or the trades • Can follow instructions and work well with a team • Are reliable, motivated, and willing to work outdoors in all weather • Can lift 50 lbs and perform physical tasks throughout the day Basic mechanical knowledge is helpful but not required — we’ll teach you everything you need to know. Work Environment You’ll work in our shop and occasionally in the field, around heavy equipment, noise, dust, and varying weather conditions. You’ll use a variety of tools including hand tools, power tools, welders, cutting tools, and diagnostic equipment.
