Job Description

Affirm is reinventing credit to make it more honest and friendly, giving consumers the flexibility to buy now and pay later without any hidden fees or compounding interest.

We’re hiring an L7 Engineering Manager to lead Furnishing Engineering, responsible for building and operating the pipelines and services that furnish accurate, timely credit reporting data to external bureaus and partners at scale. You will set technical direction and execution strategy across data pipelines, platform services, and reliability controls, balancing compliance, auditability, and customer impact. 

This role requires exceptional technical rigor: you’ll be able to dive deep into pipeline architecture, data quality and its sources, failure modes, and performance bottlenecks, and use that depth to uplevel engineering excellence through strong design reviews, pragmatic standards, and mentorship. 

What you’ll do

  • You’ll manage and grow a team of engineers, partner closely with Product, Compliance/Legal, and Analytics, and drive delivery through clear technical decision-making and operational discipline.
  • You’ll develop a deep understanding of the system design of the ETL pipelines and the dependencies on upstream data sources. 
  • You’ll own key outcomes and metrics (accuracy, timeliness, completeness, and incident rates) and lead multi-quarter cross-org initiatives that measurably improve the pipeline’s quality and reliability.
  • You’ll manage and grow a team of engineers, partner closely with Product, Compliance/Legal, 
  • Own availability, reliability, and performance of your team’s systems.
  • Partner with product managers to design and build best-in-class systems and processes for collections.
  • Partner with a diverse set of engineering teams who build solutions throughout the entire lifecycle of a loans repayment at Affirm
  • Build relationships and engage with senior management in the organization

What we look for

  • 7+ years of proven experience as a software engineer role with leadership responsibilities and 2+ years as an engineering manager.
  • Drive to change consumer financial services for the better.
  • Prior experience growing and managing high performing engineering teams.
  • Fluency in back end system design.
  • Prior experience architecting, building, launching and maintaining consumer scale products.
  • Strong cross-team communication and collaboration skills.
  • Knowledge of basic loans lifecycle and credit reporting is a plus.

Compensation and Benefits

Base Pay Grade - P

Equity Grade - Poland 5

Employees new to Affirm typically come in at the start of the pay range. Affirm focuses on providing a simple and transparent pay structure which is based on a variety of factors, including location, experience and job-related skills. 

Base pay is part of a total compensation package that may include monthly stipends for health, wellness and tech spending, and benefits (including 100% subsidized medical coverage, dental and vision for you and your dependents). In addition, the employees may be eligible for equity rewards offered by Affirm Holdings, Inc. (parent company).

POL base pay range per year: 358,000 zł  -  458,000 zł
