Job Description: Maryland Environmental Service has an opening for a Mechanic Trainee, Mechanic, Senior Mechanic, Lead Mechanic or Senior Lead Mechanic located at our Montgomery County Yardwaste facility in Dickerson, MD.
This position performs installation, maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment used for a variety of environmental projects. Estimated Pay Range: Mechanic Trainee: $41,515.16 - $57,083.16 Mechanic: $50,233.92 - $69,070.88 Senior Mechanic: $55,256.40 - $75,978.12 Lead Mechanic: $60,782.49 - $83,575.93 Sr Lead Mechanic: $66,861.04 - $91,933.74 Benefits: • Health Insurance with choice of medical plan and prescription, dental, vision, and life and disability insurance options, along with flexible spending accounts • 401K retirement savings program with generous agency match • Paid vacation, personal and sick leave • Eleven paid holidays per year • Tuition assistance Minimum Requirements: Graduation from a standard high school or possession of GED equivalency certificate plus: • Mechanic Trainee: no additional experience required. • Mechanic: 3 years of experience performing installation, repair and maintenance of mechanical equipment • Senior Mechanic: 5 years experience performing installation, repair and maintenance of mechanical equipment • Lead Mechanic: 7 years experience performing installation, repair and maintenance of mechanical equipment • Senior Lead Mechanic: 8 years experience performing installation, repair and maintenance of mechanical equipment Formal schooling from an accredited vocational school with a major in a related field may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for up to three years of the required experience.
Must have a valid driver's license with less than 5 points. Appointment to some sites may require Commercial Driver’s License with specific endorsements. Preferred experience: Experience working in heavy equipment repair, diesel equipment repair, environmental processing equipment, windrow turners, wheel loaders, tractors and forklifts.
This position will be open until filled. Mechanic Trainee position is eligible for on-spot, contingent offers. Candidates who apply after an on-spot offer has been extended (including internal candidates) will not be considered unless the candidate who receives the on-spot, contingent offer does not complete the process to become an MES employee.
Any offer of employment will be contingent upon successfully completing required pre-employment screens, to include full background check, drug & alcohol screening, and position appropriate physical.
