Police Officer Level Experienced Job Location New Carrollton, MD Salary Range $28.84 - $34.28 Hourly Job Shift Any Police Officer GENERAL DESCRIPTION The City of New Carrollton Police Department is seeking dedicated, community-focused individuals to join our team as Police Officers. We are currently accepting applications for entry-level candidates enrolled in a certified police academy, recently graduated, as well as experienced/lateral officers who are already certified and have previous law enforcement experience. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES • Enforce local, state, and federal laws and ordinances. • Respond to calls for service, emergencies, and incidents. • Conduct investigations, interviews, and prepare detailed reports.

• Engage with community members to promote trust and safety. • Patrol assigned areas by vehicle or on foot to deter and detect criminal activity. • Participate in ongoing training and professional development.
• Testifies in motions hearings, court and other proceedings regarding arrests, reports taken, evidence recovered, and victims and others statements. • Secures crime locations and detains witnesses to ensure evidence is not destroyed or contaminated. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Entry-Level Candidates: • Must possess a High School Diploma or GED • Must be at least 21 years of age • Must possess a valid driver's license in good standing • Must be currently enrolled in a Maryland Certified Police Academy or have recently graduated within the last year at the time of application • Must successfully pass a background investigation, physical, and psychological screening Experienced/Lateral Candidates: • Must possess a High School Diploma or GED • Must be at least 21 years of age • Must possess a valid driver's license in good standing • Must possess a current certification from the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commission (MPCTC) • Requires six months experience as a police officer, conducting law enforcement duties or closely related experience • Must successfully pass a background investigation, physical, and psychological screening COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS • Competitive salary: $59,986 - $71,304, based on experience and certification • Comprehensive health, dental, vision, and life insurance on day 1 • Short-term & long-term disability insurance • Paid vacation, sick leave, and holidays • Retirement and pension plans • Uniform allowance and equipment provided • Take Home Vehicle Program (for eligible officers) • Recruitment/Retention Incentive $5,000 (paid over time) • Strong leadership support • Opportunities for career advancement, specialized assignments, and ongoing professional trainingHOW TO APPLYInterested candidates should submit an online application, a current résumé, and a copy of their MPCTC certification or confirmation of enrollment.
