Welder / Fabricator – 2nd Shift Location: Lancaster, PA Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 3:00 PM –1:30 AM - Friday, 2:00 PM - 12:00AM Start Dates: 1st or 15th of each month Position Type: Temp-to-Hire Pay: $23.00 to $28.00 based on experience level - maybe more Job Summary Superior Skilled Trades is seeking an experienced Welder/Fabricator for a 2nd-shift opportunity in Lancaster, PA. This role includes all aspects of steel fabrication welding—welding, assembly, grinding, and operation of fabrication equipment—to produce high-quality finished products. Type of Welding Performed This position involves heavy steel fabrication welding using primarily FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding) and GMAW (MIG) processes on carbon steel and structural steel components.

Work includes multi-pass welds, fillet and groove welds, and fabrication of plate, structural shapes, and assemblies. Welders will also handle joint preparation, grinding, fit-up, and finishing tasks. Depending on project requirements, welders may occasionally use GTAW (TIG) or SAW (Submerged Arc Welding) for precision or thick-section welds.

Projects may include heavy weldments, structural frames, rolled plate components, and other industrial steel assemblies. Accuracy, proper weld sequencing, and adherence to welding procedures are essential. Essential Job Functions • Perform welding operations using FCAW and GMAW (GTAW and SAW optional).

• Operate fabrication equipment such as saws, torches, plasma cutters, drills, weld gauges, grinders, and material-handling equipment. • Set up welding machines based on job requirements. • Read and interpret welding symbols, blueprints, and fabrication drawings.
• Prepare joints and perform necessary grinding. • Sequence welds to minimize distortion. • Fit and tack assemblies independently or using fixtures.
• Visualize fabrication steps and plan efficient workflows. • Operate rolls and press brake equipment. Requirements • 3–5 years of experience in a welding/fabrication role.
• Strong technical welding skills with proficiency in fit-up and fabrication. • Basic reading and writing skills; accurate tape-measure reading required. • Knowledge of structural steel shapes, sizes, and grades.
• Ability to interpret shop drawings and weld symbols. • Ability to understand and communicate detailed instructions. • Clear vision and attention to detail.
• Must provide steel-toed boots and a personal welding hood. • Hand tools required; power tools provided. • Welding certifications in FCAW and GMAW preferred.
