Principal Risk Specilist

Principal Risk Specilist The Principal Risk Specialist is responsible for performing business compliance and operational risk and control activities. They are also responsible for working with the business on second-line engagements (Internal Audit, Operational Risk, Compliance) and issues management. They will also evaluate current operations across the business to identify areas for enhancements.

They will serve also as partners with the business to implement processes. Responsibilities: Provides education and monitors the business on requirements of company policies and standards related to risk and control ownership. Works with the business and the second line of defense teams on engagements testing the business’s risks and controls.

Works with the business and the enterprise Issues Management team on logging and remediating identified issues. Identifies and implements effective controls to manage operational, financial, and compliance risks. Maintains an accurate library of risks and controls.

Performs control design reviews and compliance risk assessments. Monitors the risk and control environment for weaknesses and identifies solutions to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of controls. Assists in executing control testing plans.

Leads the completion of projects and develops, implements, and administers control standardization and workflow solutions. Works as a liaison between PULSE and partners such as Operational Risk, Compliance Advisory, Internal Audit and Issues Management. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance or Law.

4+ years of experience in Financial Services, Operational and Regulatory Risk, Compliance, Internal Audit Operations or Internal Controls. Preferred Qualifications: 6+ years of experience in Financial Services, Compliance, Internal Audit Operations, Internal Controls, Operational and Regulatory risk. The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

Houston, TX: $109,900 - $125,400 for Principal Risk Specialist Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter. This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
