Pipefitter/Installer

JOB DESCRIPTION: Miller Refrigeration Inc., a trusted leader in the refrigeration industry, is seeking a skilled and dedicated Refrigeration Installer (Piper) to join our team. This individual will be responsible for installing and modifying piping systems for commercial refrigeration equipment in new store builds and remodels.

The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of refrigeration piping, materials, and system layouts, along with the ability to ensure quality, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards. A strong work ethic and commitment to delivering high-quality service to our customers are essential for success in this role. ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES: • Install refrigeration piping systems for new store builds and remodels, including copper and other materials, ensuring proper layout, insulation, and leak-free connections.

• Collaborate with project teams to determine the most efficient piping routes for refrigeration equipment, considering system layout, space constraints, and future serviceability. • Install and connect refrigeration equipment, such as walk-in coolers, freezer boxes, upright coolers/freezers, open-air display cases, and ice makers, to piping systems and remote refrigeration systems. • Modify existing refrigeration piping systems during remodel projects, ensuring seamless integration with upgraded or relocated equipment.
• Perform pressure testing, system flushing, and evacuation to verify piping integrity and prepare systems for charging. • Read and interpret blueprints and technical diagrams to ensure accurate and efficient installation of piping systems. • Provide excellent customer service, explaining work performed to clients and ensuring systems are operating efficiently.
• Ensure all installations and repairs comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including safety codes and environmental standards. • Complete service orders, reports, and documentation of work performed accurately and in a timely manner. • Work closely with other team members to complete installations and repairs efficiently and assist in the training of less experienced technicians.
• Other duties as assigned. ROLE REQUIREMENTS: Education: • High School diploma or equivalent required. • Associates or trade certification preferred.

Experience: • 2+ years of commercial refrigeration installation, maintenance and repair, including experience with remote systems and walk-in units. • Experience installing complex electro-mechanical systems. • Experience soldering copper pipes and fittings for refrigeration systems.

Skills & Competencies: • Ability to braze from 3/8” to 1 5/8” copper with oxy-acetylene or turbo torch. • Understanding the necessary pieces and tools needed to maintain and install equipment. • Control wiring knowledge.

• Clean driving record required. • Reliable transportation required. • Proficient in using electronic devices such as cell phones, tablets, and laptops for communication, documentation, and accessing job-related information.
• Strong analytical, problem solving, and communication skills. • Teamwork orientation. Physical/Mental Requirements: • Possess excellent organizational, communication, interpersonal skills with the ability to multitask several projects at once.
• Excellent customer service skills and the ability to handle stressful situations. • Self-motivated, reliable, and accountable individual • Must be able to lift/carry 50 lbs. • Must be confident in the operation of ladders, scissor lifts, pallet jacks or other devices as needed.
• Job requires full body mobility (walking, standing, bending, crouching, stooping, climbing, etc.) • Must be able to work safely in varied environments and around hazardous commercial equipment. Work Environment: • This position requires the ability to work in a variety of settings, including commercial kitchens, warehouses, supermarkets, convenience stores, and industrial facilities. • Exposure to cold environments and varying weather conditions.
• The role may require occasional overtime or overnight work to meet client needs or project deadlines.
