Junior Database Administrator

Position: Junior Database AdministratorLocation: Greenbelt, MD SUMMARY: Business Integra Inc. is seeking a junior-level database administrator to support a robust database as a vital element of the Java web applications, and is responsible for database maintenance and security measures. Their duties include monitoring software to combat potential security breaches, creating accounts, and preserving data integrity.

The successful candidate will become an integral part of our team of developers, database, and systems administrators supporting the NASA SEWP Program Management Office, a multi-award government acquisition contract focused on commercial IT products and product-based services. RESPONSIBILITIES: • Assists in the administration of Oracle 19c high availability and disaster recovery databases, including the installation, configuration, and patching. • Assists in the creation of tables, indexes, triggers, account management, and other DB-related objects.

• Support near-zero downtime database patching and upgrades. • Support system-level and database maintenance. • Maintains data dictionary information.
• Assists in creating and maintaining DB scripts and documentation. • Plan and coordinate security requirements alongside senior DBA and systems administrators. • Monitors DB performance, logs, disk space, and bottlenecks.
• Perform SQL code review and analysis. • Build and execute ad-hoc queries upon request. • Adhere to project schedules and proactively resolve or escalate issues to management • Document the system, component, and interface designs and requirements to ensure future maintainability • Collaborate with application developers, database and systems administrators, content management, and internal stakeholders • Participate in the maintenance and deployment of projects, providing support outside normal core business hours or nights, and weekends • Provide Level II customer support via phone, e-mail, and ServiceNow, supporting our customers and IT service ticketing system.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: • BA/BS degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or related field • Required: 4+ years of Oracle database administration experience • Required: 4+ years of experience writing SQL queries for Oracle databases • Preferred: Experience with Linux and Windows environments. • Preferred: Experience with Toad and Cloud Control/Grid Control Other Requirements: • US Citizen or permanent residency, with the ability to obtain a clearance of Public Trust • Must possess excellent interpersonal communication, written and oral, to ensure quality information collection and dissemination across teams, departments, and the whole SEWP program.
